Meet Vancouver and the Sea-to-Sky's Newest Design Studio & 3D Printing Service
There's no shortage of 3D printing services around Vancouver. Most of them do one thing well: small, precise parts off a desktop machine. PROTOTYPE 3D does that too, but it's only one of four scales we work in, and that range is what actually sets us apart as a 3D printing service for Vancouver, the North Shore, and the whole Sea-to-Sky corridor.
One studio, four scales of printing
Instead of specializing in a single machine or a single size of part, we built a studio around the full range a project might need, from a fingernail-sized prototype to a 20-foot sculpture, all under one roof in Squamish.
Small: Bambu P1S / X1C desktop printers Build volume of 256 x 256 x 256mm, precision down to ±0.1mm. This is where prototyping, complex geometry, and multi-material parts live. Materials range from standard PLA and PETG through engineering-grade ABS, ASA, PA, PC, PPS, TPU, and carbon or glass fiber composites, plus recycled and biodegradable polymers.
Medium: Bambu H2S A step up in both build volume, 340 x 320 x 340mm, and precision, ±0.05mm with vision-encoder feedback. This is our go-to for engineering parts, high-temp materials, and short production runs where accuracy can't slip.
Large: LFAM Gantry A 1 x 1 x 2 meter build volume built for furniture, sculpture, architectural elements, and large, high-resolution prototypes that a desktop machine simply can't fit.
XL: 7-Axis Robotic LFAM, our flagship system A 7-axis KUKA robotic arm running pellet extrusion, with a build volume of 5.5 x 20 x 6 feet. It also runs hybrid print-plus-machining, meaning a part can be printed and then machined in the same setup. This is the system behind carbon and fiberglass molds, structural parts, architectural facades, public sculpture, and bespoke furniture at true full scale.
Why "one service, four scales" actually matters
Most projects don't stay one size for their whole life. A design might start as a small desktop test print to check proportions, move to a medium-scale functional prototype to test fit and tolerance, and finish as a full-size large format piece for final production. Working with a single studio across all four scales means that whole process happens in one place, with one team who already understands the part, instead of getting re-scoped and re-explained to a new vendor at every size jump.
Who we're already working with
Since opening here in Squamish we’ve already completed architectural and interior commissions, retail visual merchandising builds, and a growing collection of made-to-order furniture and décor sold directly through our Objects line. We've also been trusted by organizations like TED, the American Cancer Society, and Arch Motorcycle, and shown at the Interior Design Show in Vancouver for the last 2 years during our move. We’re not new, we have been operating at the edge of advanced 3D design and manufacturing since 2020 and are excited to be bringing our services to western Canada.
Local, on-demand manufacturing
Every part, whether it's a desktop prototype or a 20-foot install, is printed to order in our Squamish studio using locally sourced, recycled, and bio-based materials wherever possible. There's no offshore lead time and no warehouse of pre-made stock. If Vancouver, the North Shore, Whistler, or Pemberton has a project that needs to be made, not bought off a shelf, that's exactly what we built this studio to do.
